About Lynda Martin
Lynda Martin of Goodwin Growth Works provides the inspirational counsel her clients need to achieve success on their own terms. Her expertise lies in helping people act upon their core values and principles as they set and achieve professional goals. The result is a more balanced life that enriches the soul and the bottom line.
Martin's ability to balance the contemplative inner life with a demanding professional life is the hallmark of her career. While a member of a teaching and service religious order, she and her management team grew annual revenues of for-profit subsidiaries to $800,000 in two years. She also coached her gymnastics team at the Girls and Boys Clubs of America to state level wins.
Her vocation to help people sort out life and work issues shaped Martin's role when she joined the marketing group at Norrell Services (now Spherion). Martin created and implemented programs to make temporary employees more productive at client companies like Nike, SnapOn Tools and Continental Airlines. An innovative combination of testing and training, combined with new sales tools she developed, drove revenues to double to $150 million in two years within light industrial services, a key to Norrell's profitability and growth during the 1990s.
In her next position, with Talisman Technologies, Martin served as a project manager on high-tech software for companies like Texas Utilities and Federal Express. She was responsible for managing complex projects involving multiple software packages, meeting the needs of employees on the front lines and executives. Accomplishing all of that while meeting a startup deadline was a challenge that taught Martin how to juggle conflicting requirements gracefully.
Martin then moved to Askier Business Development, where she worked with entrepreneurs to improve their business operations, increase sales, and grow the business while reducing the amount of effort her clients needed to exert to realize their goals. Her work at Askier was the final step on Martin's journey to opening her own consultancy, Goodwin Growth Works.
Martin has truly returned to her roots, naming her company for the family homestead, the Solomon Goodwin House The house has been in the Martin's family for 7 generations, and is the last parcel of a 600-acre farm in Dekalb County, Georgia. It now shelters several growing businesses and offers a calming retreat to Goodwin Growth Works clients when they meet with Martin. The house has endured as the countryside around it grew into the bustling Brookhaven district; it embodies Martin's ability to see the big picture and to adapt and cope with change over time. She has a special gift for identifying strengths and resources, then helping her clients grow their businesses and their lives from that source.
Lynda began her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College, graduating with a BA in Community Ministry from the Holy Order of MANS seminary in Boston, MA. Master's degree, with honors, is from Georgia State University in Human Resources Development.
